New book: Ecosystem Barents Sea
The book Ecosystem Barents Sea has now been published in English on Tapir Academic Press, Trondheim, Norway. Many researchers and managers at the Norwegian Polar Institute have contributed to the chapters in this book.

Researchers and managers at the Norwegian Polar Institute who have contributed to the chapters in this book: Kit M. Kovacs with Introduction, Torgny Vinje (retired) about Sea-ice, Cecilie von Quillfeldt on Phytoplankton, primary production and also about Ice algae, Haakon Hop on Benthic Life, Geir Wing Garbrielsen about Seabirds and, in addition, on Pollution, Kit M. Kovacs and Christian Lydersen on marine mammals and Cecilie von Quillfeldt and Dag Vongraven about Integrated ecosystem-based management of the Barents Sea-Lofoten area.

The book contains much new information, and is a substantial upgrade from the previous Ecosystem Barents Sea book from 1991 (reprinted 1994).  The book is richly illustrated and is expected to be frequently used in research, education and management. It is highly recommended.

Editors are Egil Sakshaug, Geir Johnsen and Kit M. Kovacs.
