Status, genetic diversity and stock identity of Spitsbergen Bowhead whales (2005 – 2015 )

This research programme is a collaborative effort with the University of Oslo, and UNIS on Svalbard. It is currently in a “pilot” phase. Ice-edge boat surveys were conducted in 2005 and again in spring 2008. Relative abundance, genetic identity and general ecology of this bowhead stock are all topics of interest in this research programme.

Positions may become available – pending funding.
